Mesa Falls

Yesterday on my drive back to Henry's Lake I noticed a fork in the road and a sign for the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway.  I hadn't heard of this before, but decided to drive back the next morning to explore.

I arrived at the visitors center by 9:00 am which was a good idea because there were only a few other cars in the parking lot at that time.  I walked past the visitors center and followed a short walkway down several flights of stairs to the viewing platforms over Mesa Falls.  After a few minutes the sun peeks through the trees behind me creating rainbows in the mist.

Back at the top of the trail the visitors center was open so I went in to have a look.  The center is located inside the historic Big Falls Inn and contains historical information and some interesting nature exhibits.  I especially liked the center's huge collection of animal furs that were set out so people could touch and feel the texture and softness of the various pelts.
